1. Who We Are

Tally is operated by Bright Worldwide, LLC, an Illinois limited liability company ("Bright Worldwide", "we", "us", or "our"). This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, and share information about you when you use Tally at logwithtally.com.

2. Information We Collect

Information you provide directly

  • Account: your email address, used to send passwordless sign-in links.
  • Profile & goals: height, current weight, target weight, calorie and macro goals.
  • Food logs: text descriptions of meals and the resulting nutritional estimates.
  • Weight logs: manually entered weight readings.
  • Journal entries: free-form notes you write on the dashboard mood log.

Information from third-party integrations

  • Withings: body weight measurements synced from your Withings scale via OAuth.
  • Strava: activity data (type, duration, calories) synced from your Strava account via OAuth.

We store only the OAuth tokens necessary to perform these syncs and the data fields listed above. We do not read any data beyond what is required to provide the service.

Automatically collected information

  • Standard server log data (IP address, browser, pages visited, timestamps) for security and operational monitoring.
  • Session cookies required to keep you signed in.

3. How We Use Your Information

  • To provide, operate, and improve the service.
  • To send magic-link sign-in emails you request.
  • To parse your food descriptions using an AI model (Anthropic Claude) and return nutritional estimates.
  • To sync data from connected Withings and Strava accounts.
  • To monitor for abuse, security issues, and service errors.

We do not use your data for advertising, and we do not sell your personal information to third parties.

4. AI Processing

When you submit a food description, the text is sent to Anthropic's API to generate a nutritional breakdown. Anthropic processes this data subject to their own privacy policy. We do not send any personally identifiable information (name, email, weight, etc.) to Anthropic — only the meal description text.

5. Information Sharing

We share your information only in the following limited circumstances:

  • Service providers: Heroku (hosting), Anthropic (AI), Withings (integration), Strava (integration). Each acts as a processor under our direction.
  • Legal compliance: If required by law, subpoena, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of Bright Worldwide, our users, or the public.
  • Business transfers: In the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your information may transfer to the successor entity.

6. Data Retention

We retain your account and log data for as long as your account is active. You may request deletion of your account and all associated data at any time by emailing us. We will action deletion requests within 30 days.

7. Security

We use industry-standard measures to protect your data, including encrypted connections (TLS), encrypted session tokens, and access controls. No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

8. Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • Access a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
  • Correct inaccurate data.
  • Request deletion of your data.
  • Disconnect any third-party integration at any time from the Settings page.

9. Children's Privacy

Tally is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us personal information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will update the effective date at the top of this page when we do. Material changes will be communicated via email to registered users where reasonably practicable.
